First Year Studio II

Showcase Project

Overgrowth Animation

April 2024

    • Adobe After Effects

    • Adobe Photoshop

    • Cannon T6i Camera

  • This project worked in collaboration with a previous paper sculpture and lessons in color theory to create three short animations that build an interconnected story.

Using over 50 different photos from around NC State Campus three scenes where constructed and recolored in Photoshop to create a setting depicting the world being overtaken by nature. With an army of worms, depicted by a previously made paper structure, slowly growing and spreading to facilitate this overgrowth.

Additional Projects

Dimensional Volume and Plane Recombination

March 2024

    • Blender

    • Illustrator

    • Laser cutter

    • Cardstock

    • Glue

  • This project is an evolution of two previous paper crafts, one planar in design and one voluminous, to create a single structure that houses both features as well as creating a more dynamic form.

This project ended up evolving from the Dimensional Volume Paper Craft’s work flow, by creating the full design in Blender before UV unwrapping and exporting the planes into laser cutting software to create precise and form fitting parts.

Dimensional Volume Paper Craft

February 2024

    • Blender

    • Clip Studio Paint

    • Cardstock

    • Glue

  • Starting from an infinite tunnel 2D image, this project aims to turn said image into a 3D paper form that integrates light into the experience.

Wanting to ensure precision, this project was initially designed inside Blender, before being UV unwrapped and printing out the projected image. The projection would then be used as a template to cut and fold the complete Dimensional Volume.
